Every stroll down its colorful alleys is an experience.  Take a photo next to the picture perfect lighthouse or walk among the impressive 16th Century buildings with magnificent architecture. Visit the Kusuk Hasan mosque, the Grand Arsenal, the Splanzia square and Kum Kapi at Miaouli Beach. You’ll feel as if you’re in a different era.

Monasteries
East of Chania,  in the Akrotiri peninsula,  walk to the monastery of Agia Triada Tsagarolon (17th century), the Gouverneto monastery (16th century), the ruins of the Catholic monastery  the oldest in Crete (11th century). Its altar is hidden in the dark of the Bear Cave, named after a the bear-shaped stalactite. Its religious history takes you back to ancient times.

Beautiful Cretan Villages
